Learning Intention:W.A.L.T.-recognise what  God has created is tapu.
Success Criteria:I know I am successful when I can demonstrate love and respect for the tapu  of the whenua.

We look after the animals because animals gave us food.
We don't throw rubbish in the sea and river, because they gave us food, water to drink and place to swim.
We look after the trees, because it gave us oxygen, shade,and food.
We look after all of Gods creation so the land will have a good life.

Ash Wednesday by Brielle

Learning Intention:W.A.L.T. write a recount. 
Success Criteria:I know I can do this this when I write a story about  Ash Wednesday in order and use capital letters and full stops correctly.

On Wednesday my class and I went to mass for Ash
Wednesday.First father Andrew burned the palms outside the church.Then one of my friends read their favourite picture and it was burnt too.Then father Andrew put Ash on my forehead and he said "from dust you come,to dust we shall return".Finally everybody got up and walked back to our class room .

During The Holidays

During the holidays I went to Pt England beach with my family.  We live near Pt England beach.  It’s a good beach because it is good for swimming and I like to go swimming. 

First we played hide and seek and I was in.  I found Natalia.  Natalia is my older sister.  Next we swam in the water.  It was nice and warm.  Then we had lunch.  We had a picnic lunch.  We had sandwiches, grapes, and strawberries.  Later we had an ice cream on the way home. 

When we got home I had a shower.  When I got out of the shower I got changed and watched TV.  I watched a movie.  It was called Frozen.  It was about a girl called Elsa. Then my dad said, “It’s time for dinner”.  I had great day. 

Going To Lunch

Going To Lunch

On the weekend I went out to lunch with some of my family.  It was a surprise birthday lunch for my cousin. There were a lot of us.  There was my mum, dad, three sisters and two brothers, one aunt, one uncle and my cousin. 

We went to Sam Woo’s restaurant for lunch.  When we got there we paid the lady behind the counter and then we sat down at a large round table.  We all had a plate and we chose food from the food plates and put them on our plates.  Then we ate the food.  I tried lots of different types of food and we ate all of it.  My favourite food was the chicken because it tasted so, so yummy. 

Next my cousin’s birthday cake arrived.  It was a chocolate and banana cake.  It tasted delicious.  We all sang happy birthday to her.  She smiled and she was very happy. 

After that we gave my cousin her presents.  She got some make up and some nail polish.  My cousin said, “Thank you” to us all for giving her the presents.  

Later we all sat around and talked a little bit.  I like going to Sam Woo’s restaurant because the food tastes good.

My Brother's Birthday

In the holidays I went to Sylvia Park with my Mum and Dad. We went to Sylvia Park because it was my brother’s birthday.  His name is Michael.  He turned 18 years old.  I got my brother a birthday present.  I got him a watch because he likes watches.  My brother was happy with his watch.  He smiled at me and said thank you. 
Next we had lunch and then we went for a bus ride.  The bus ride was fun.  After that I played in the Sylvia Park playground.  It was fun too.  Later my uncle picked us up and we went home.  I had a terrific day.

Visiting Up North

In the holidays I went up north to see some of my family.  I went with my mum, my papa and my sister Natalia.  When we arrived at my auntie and uncle’s house we said hello to them and I played outside with my cousins.  They had tent outside. 

Then we went inside.  It was my cousin’s birthday.  He turned 6 and his name is Noraine.  We had a birthday party for him.  My mum made his birthday cake.  It was a chocolate and banana cake.  I liked the icing.  I had lots of fun at my cousin’s birthday party.  I hope we go up north again soon.
